The Story

These intricate silver filigree earrings were handmade in Oaxaca City, Mexico by two of the country's best craftsmen, Juan Manuel Garcia Esperanza and his son, José Jorge Garcia Garcia. Both are considered "grand masters" of their art, are award winning and often are requested to create works for the Mexican government to give as gifts to visiting dignitaries.  I was serendipitously introduced to them while in Oaxaca City, and graciously invited to their "taller" (workshop) to see them work and view their art. Watching them create was mesmerizing (view the videos here - coming soon) yet this finished pair of earrings accented with a pretty bird taking flight in a bell and coral beads lovely is even more so. They will delight you!

  • 2” L x .75” W
  • Hand filigree work and bird made with .925 sterling silver (stamped) and coral bead embellishments
  • Latch hook pierced back
  • Style called "Campanitos"
  • Handcrafted in Oaxaca, Mexico by Juan Manuel Garcia Esperanza.

** Of the extra pictures one is of the Templo de Santo Domingo de Guzmán in the center of Oaxaca City (the city were I curated these amazing earrings). Another is the outside entrance of Juan and Jose's humble workshop, and the other is of Jose creating their wearable art inside.
