Traditional Pate Silver EarringsDesigner: Slim the Silver Smith
These beauties were curated during my time in Lamu, Kenya, the oldest settlement in East Africa and a UNESCO world heritage site. They were inspired by traditional jewelry worn by African natives on a nearby island, Pate. They were handmade by a local silver smith, Slim. His shop looked nothing like a jewelry store and he didn't make much, but what he did create was exceptional. Earrings like these you will never find again.

**The additional two photos are of Slim and his shop in Lamu. Donkeys are the only form of transportation in this traditional Swahili town! Thank goodness for the once a day street cleaners!!
