The Story

These treasures were curated in Colombia and both are representative of the history and existing indigenous culture in this vibrant country.

1) Pre-Columbian Inspired Earrings

Curated in Bogota, the artisans who made these earrings do exquisite replicas of jewels and artifacts that are exhibited in Bogota's famous (and very worthwhile) Gold Museum. They are all inspired by different pre-columbian cultures and all are made by Colombian hands.

  • 1.25" L x .75" W post earrings
  • 24K double gold plated

    2) Miniature handwoven Indigenous Kogi Mochila -

This miniature fique mochila bags was woven by the women of the Kogi tribe living in the Sierra Nevada of Northern Colombia. I curated on the way back from my 4 day trek to "La Ciudad Perdida" - see additional pictures.

The process for making the bags (both the standard size and this miniature bag) starts with the extraction of the fiber from the maguey fique plant and the preparation of natural dyes by members of the community. Each bag is woven by hand and is said to carry the positive desires that the woman imparts into it during its creation.

This little mochila is 2" Deep and a great way to gift these pre-columbian inspired earrings.
